Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around understanding the conventions of probability, specifically conditional probability represented as P(A|E) and the multiplication theorem. Participants express challenges in grasping these concepts and seek clarification and examples to aid their understanding.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related, Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express difficulties in understanding the convention of conditional probability P(A|E) and the multiplication theorem.
  • There is a request for specific examples to illustrate problems that can be solved but are not well understood conceptually.
  • One participant suggests that the forum should be used for specific questions rather than as a substitute for textbooks, indicating a perceived level of complexity in the inquiries.
  • Another participant notes that the question is at a basic level, contrasting it with more advanced topics.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for clarification on the concepts of conditional probability and the multiplication theorem, but there is no consensus on the appropriateness of the question's complexity or the best approach to address it.

Contextual Notes

Some limitations include the lack of specific examples provided in the discussion and the varying perceptions of the question's difficulty level among participants.

I am having some difficulties in understand the convention of probability like P(A|E) ... And I am not able convert the questions into this for .I can solve those questions but can someone help me to understand this topic .And also multiplication theorem .

What we write in these threads can never be a substitute for a good textbook. It's better to use this forum to ask specific question about something you don't understand. Ideally, post something in the homework forum.

Also, sorry to say, this is a Basic level question. Advanced would relate to a graduate level question.

Give an example of a simple problem such that you can work it , but don't understand its concepts.
