Mathematics Search Engine for Undergraduates

In summary, the conversation is about the development of a customized search engine for undergraduate students in Mathematics. The engine can easily be added to iGoogle for easy access. The developer is continuously improving the engine and there is a Facebook group for bug reporting. The conversation also mentions other search engines for Mathematics and the integration of the Undergraduate Search Engine into the Mathematics Harbour project. The goal is to make information more accessible in the field of Mathematics. There is also a discussion about adding books and advertisements to the search results and the possibility of joining an Open Source Project for customizing search engines. The conversation ends with the announcement of a new website for the project and a request for feedback.

I am customising a Search Engine to undergraduates at Mathematics:

http://mathsearchun.blogspot.com/

You can easily add it to your iGoogle so you do not need to remember the URL.

As an undergraduate at Mathematics, I am continuously developing it. There is a developer group "Mathematics Search Engine for Undergraduates" in Facebook. Please, report bugs there.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks, I like it and I know it will be useful in my explorations.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am myself surprised of the resullts. There are some gems that are really hard to find in the non-customised Google. I am using it everyday for my own work.

You can find more Searh Engines at Mathematics here:
The engines "Mathematics" and "For Undergraduates" are recommended. Enjoy :)

Good idea, though it would not be of much use to me at this moment of time.

Perhaps, you will now find the engine more useful. I added categories, such as "Goals" and "Terminology" and removed "Latex". There are still a great amount of work to be done. For more specific topics, such as Latex, I am customising more mathematically-biased search engines.

I hope they help you as much as me.

I love your search engines - they are better than the default Google!

Thank you.

I added books to the Amazon shop instead of weakening the results in the searh engine for undergraduates. I feel that it is necessary, because otherwise book advertising weakens too much the results. What do you think?

If someone knows some Open Source Project for customising search engines at Mathematics, I would like to join. I have left my search engines open so that more people can contribute to them. Let's be on the shoulder of Google :)

I think that is a good idea, so that there is not too much advertising in the results.

Mathematics Search Engines

The Undergraduate Search Engine was integrated to the Mathematics Harbour -project. It creates search engines at Mathematics. It is at

http://mathharbour.blogspot.com/

Many new engines were recently added. There is currently a variety of engines, such as Job search in Mathematics-related fields and Child Math. They are becoming publicly developed in Github, so you can send your links there. Stay tuned!

Please, put the development news to a separate page such as to a blog.
The current content distracts me a lot.

Good point! Unfortunately, Blogger does not allow 0 post. I will make the site simpler by having discussions at http://groups.google.com/group/mathematics-harbour and a CSE for all other CSEs. I will include ideas behind the link "Have an idea?". Thank you for your feedback.

Mathematics Search Engines

I added some functions over all engines. The idea is to specialise in different engines. Then, users can navigate just by remembering some keywords: http://unmathfacts.blogspot.com/ [Broken]. When they forget the urls, they can just google the unique words "Math Harbour". If you have a nice engine at Mathematics, please, do no hesitate to post it here. It can get a link from the engines in the project.

An integration of the Engines and A New Address

The project has developed to the point when the integration was possible. Future goal will be to continue on the same path, making information more accessible at Mathematics. The site will be at
mathharbour.com
Meanwhile, you can test it at:
http://sites.google.com/site/mathharbour/
If you find some flaws, please do not hesitate to comment. Thanks.
