Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around accessing SIMSCAPE for electrical simulations within MATLAB Simulink, specifically addressing issues related to its availability in the library and licensing requirements. The context includes user experiences and troubleshooting related to software installation and access.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Debate/contested, Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the absence of SIMSCAPE in their MATLAB installation and seeks suggestions for resolution.
  • Another participant suggests that obtaining a license from the user's university or employer may be necessary, indicating that access is not guaranteed with the standard installation.
  • A different participant mentions being an intern at a large company and questions whether recent updates could be the cause of the missing SIMSCAPE.
  • One response indicates that the issue should be directed to the company's IT department rather than an online forum.
  • A participant expresses confusion about whether SIMSCAPE is typically included with MATLAB installations, seeking clarification on its standard availability.
  • Another participant clarifies that SIMSCAPE must be licensed separately, countering the assumption that it is included by default.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on whether SIMSCAPE is included with MATLAB installations, with some asserting it requires a separate license while others question this. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the specific circumstances of the user's situation.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the lack of information about specific licensing agreements at the user's company and the implications of recent software updates on access to SIMSCAPE.

hello people,

I have MATLAB R2014a installed in my system, i would like to do some electrical simulations. Unfortunately I am unable to find SIMSCAPE in my library. Can anyone suggest me how to get it.

thanks in advance.

You need to obtain a license from your university/employer, who may or may not be able to provide it depending on what licences they have bought.

Actually I am an intern in a very big company. They updated it recently, so do you think that might be the problem ?

Tis is then a question for your company's IT department, not for an internet forum.

The basic thing I wanted to know is, Is it normal that in simulink library simscape is missing ?
when ever one installs matlab, he definitely gets simscape with it ?

No, you must license it separately.

ok, thank you so much for your words..
