Homework Statement



a rope can withstand 1000kg N of tension. if the rope is being used to pull a 10kg package across a frictionless surface, what is the greatest acceleration that will not break the rope?

The units of tension are N, not kg*N. And yes, a=100m/s^2. You used F=ma, right?

Yes, the tension in the rope is the force causing the acceleration. If the acceleration were larger, then the tension in the rope would be > 1000N. It would break.
