Homework Statement

Suppose the maximum speed of a strong carrying a sinusoidal wave is [tex]v_{s}[/tex]. When the displacement of a point on the string is half its maximum, what is the speed of the point?

Express your answer in terms of [tex]v_{s}[/tex]

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

Well the speed of the wave and the speed of a point on the wave must be two different things, correct?

How can I relate the two?

Thanks again!

I think vs is the maximum speed of a point on the string.

It gives the answer as,

[tex]\frac{\sqrt{3}v_{s}}{2}[/tex]

Is it a question or a statement? :) It is true, anyway.
