Mechanical Properties of polymers

Click For Summary
Finding reliable resources for the mechanical properties of polymers, including density, Young's modulus, bulk modulus, and shear modulus, can be challenging. A recommended resource is "The Modern Plastics Handbook," which provides comprehensive information on these properties. Engaging with specialized literature and databases may also yield valuable data for those researching polymer mechanics.

Hello everyone,

I've had a hard time finding places where to look up the different mechanical properties of polymers. I am mainly interested in density, young's, bulk, and shear moduli. I would appreciate if anybody can point me out to some good resources.
Thank you

Hi camimfajardo, welcome to PF. The Modern Plastics Handbook is pretty good.

I need to anneal 5052 aluminum for a home project. Google has given me mixed results on how to do this. Short version is that I'm doing some heavy forming on a piece of 5052-H32 and I'm running into issues with it work hardening. I've tried the Sharpie trick with a propane torch. But I'm not sure this is doing anything. I'm also seeing conflicting opinions whether to quench or air cool. So I'm looking for some expert opinions. (Oven heating is not an option due to size.) Thanks. edit: The...
