Molecular hydrogen excitation levels

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers on the electronic excitation levels of molecular hydrogen, specifically seeking near-threshold energy levels and relevant experimental data. Participants share resources and references related to the topic.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests comprehensive information on electronic excitation levels of molecular hydrogen, particularly near-threshold levels.
  • Another participant suggests looking for papers by Alejandro Saenz, who is noted for high-precision calculations of excited states in hydrogen molecules.
  • A follow-up response indicates difficulty in accessing Saenz's papers and expresses a specific need for experimental data.
  • A link to the NIST Chemistry WebBook is provided as a potential resource for information on diatomic hydrogen.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the availability of the requested data, and there are multiple views regarding the accessibility of relevant research papers.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the potential inaccessibility of specific research papers and the lack of comprehensive experimental data on near-threshold energy levels.

Hi, I am looking for electronic excitation levels of molecular hydrogen like attached table. but there are only a few electronic states, i need near-threshold energy levels. where can i find all levels?

thanks for attention

I knew a guy called Alejandro Saenz who calculated the excited states of hydrogen molecules with high precision. Look out for his papers in google scholar. I think he is now professor in Berlin.

thank you for your reply. i understood as alejandro sanz and thougt that you are joking :)
unfortunately i can't access most of his papers. accessable ones don't contain what i need. espacially, I'm looking for experimental datas.
