Motor power for screw conveyor?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on selecting an appropriate motor for a screw conveyor designed to handle a mass flow rate of 200g/h, with a length of 0.5m and a diameter of 100mm, operating at a speed of 1 RPM. Participants emphasize the importance of confirming the units used, particularly the diameter measurement, which is critical for accurate motor sizing. The specifications indicate that the conveyor will transport small coal particles, necessitating a motor capable of handling this specific application efficiently.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of screw conveyor design principles
  • Familiarity with motor selection criteria for material handling
  • Knowledge of flow rate calculations in conveyor systems
  • Basic mechanical engineering concepts related to torque and RPM
NEXT STEPS
  • Research motor torque calculations for screw conveyors
  • Learn about the impact of conveyor diameter on motor selection
  • Explore different types of motors suitable for low-speed applications
  • Investigate material handling best practices for small particle transport
USEFUL FOR

Mechanical engineers, conveyor system designers, and anyone involved in material handling and motor selection for industrial applications.
