Does anyone know which parts of the NEC (NFPA 70) are applicable when looking at converting a residential building to a commercial building. Such as converting homes into a buisness/offices.

I'd just pay a visit to your local city Building Inspector's office. That will give you the quickest answer, especially if there are any local ordinances that are applicable.
