Necessary computer softwares for electrical engineer

Click For Summary
Electrical engineers should focus on mastering essential software tools such as Excel, MATLAB, and SPICE, which are crucial for general tasks in the field. The choice of additional specialized software often depends on the specific area of electrical engineering one is pursuing. Familiarity with simulation and design tools can enhance an engineer's capabilities in project execution. Continuous learning of new software relevant to emerging technologies is also important. Overall, a solid foundation in these software tools is vital for success in electrical engineering.

Excel, matlab, and spice are widely used for general purpose. More specialized software will follow depending on your field.

I am trying to understand how transferring electric from the powerplant to my house is more effective using high voltage. The suggested explanation that the current is equal to the power supply divided by the voltage, and hence higher voltage leads to lower current and as a result to a lower power loss on the conductives is very confusing me. I know that the current is determined by the voltage and the resistance, and not by a power capability - which defines a limit to the allowable...
