Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around a new physics student, Nishant, seeking guidance on foundational concepts in physics, particularly focusing on natural laws and astronomy. Nishant expresses a desire to learn without delving into mathematical formulas and requests resources such as ebooks and free web courses.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • Nishant seeks guidance on basic physics concepts, specifically natural laws and astronomy, without a focus on mathematics.
  • Some participants suggest resources like HyperPhysics for foundational knowledge.
  • Another participant recommends Walter Lewin's freshman physics course videos, noting that they may not be the easiest material due to mathematical content.
  • One participant mentions howstuffworks.com as a resource for understanding how machines and natural events work.
  • Nishant expresses gratitude for the provided links and asks for additional free resources related to physics laws applied to astronomy and the workings of the universe.
  • Participants suggest Khan Academy for free physics videos and additional links to astronomy resources, including Astronomy Notes and Bad Astronomy.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the availability of various resources for learning physics and astronomy, but there is no consensus on which specific materials are the easiest or most suitable for beginners.

Contextual Notes

Some resources suggested may contain complex mathematical content that could challenge a complete beginner, and the effectiveness of each resource may depend on individual learning preferences.

hi friend's

i am nishant.i am very new in the field of physics & don't have any basic knowledge of the subject.i want ur guidance ,as i want to start from basics.i don't want to get into the mathematical formulas of subject but wanted to learn LAWS OF PHYSICS.i am also interested to learn natural laws, astronomy ,Einstein,Newton,Galileo
i have mentioned "natural laws,astronomy ,Einstein,Newton,Galileo " so that u know what i wanted to learn :
please suggest me ebooks, free web course or any other source
please suggest me easiest material as i don't belongs to science

Thanks & regard's

Welcome to the PF. Here is one place to start:

.

Walter Lewin has put the whole freshman physics course on video -- it's very good:

http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-01-physics-i-classical-mechanics-fall-1999/

Edit: It's not the easiest material. I'd just pause the video when he throws too much math out at once.

If you are interested in how machines, natural events and so on work, you can also check out howstuffworks.com

hi friends
