No bubbles in distillation of phenylacetone under vacuum

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the distillation of phenylacetone under vacuum conditions, specifically at a temperature of 120°C and a vacuum pressure of approximately 20 torr. The user reports an absence of bubbles during the distillation process, raising concerns about the normalcy of this observation. It is confirmed that the lack of bubbles can occur under specific vacuum conditions, but further details on the distillation setup and monitoring are essential for accurate assessment.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of vacuum distillation principles
  • Knowledge of phenylacetone properties and handling
  • Familiarity with vacuum pump operation and measurement
  • Experience with temperature control in distillation processes
NEXT STEPS
  • Research vacuum distillation techniques and best practices
  • Study the properties and behavior of phenylacetone during distillation
  • Learn about vacuum pressure measurement and its effects on boiling points
  • Investigate troubleshooting methods for distillation anomalies
USEFUL FOR

Chemists, chemical engineers, and laboratory technicians involved in distillation processes, particularly those working with controlled substances like phenylacetone.

hello,
i have no bubbles in distillation of phenylacetone under vacuum, the heat is about 120c, and the vacuum pump produce around 20 torr.

is that normal? please help me
