SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on creating a plot of a symmetric compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) in Excel using the Winston equations. The user, Josh, is seeking assistance with the dimensions, specifically a width of 2a = 10 and a half acceptance angle of 30 degrees. The community suggests sharing JPEG screenshots of the work to facilitate better feedback and corrections. This highlights the importance of visual aids in troubleshooting Excel plotting issues.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) design principles
  • Familiarity with the Winston equations for CPC calculations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for plotting and data visualization
  • Basic knowledge of geometry related to angles and dimensions
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to implement the Winston equations in Excel for CPC modeling
  • Learn techniques for creating accurate plots in Excel, including the use of charts and graphs
  • Explore methods for sharing Excel files securely, including converting to JPEG
  • Investigate best practices for visual communication in technical discussions
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, researchers, and students involved in optical design, particularly those working with solar energy applications and seeking to visualize compound parabolic concentrators in Excel.

I have the winston equations for the cpc but i am having problems getting the exact shape of a symmetric compound parabolic concentrator in excel
Help me with the corrections in terms of the width 2a =10 and half acceptance angle of 30 dg please

Welcome to the PF, Josh.

Can you post a few JPEG screenshots of your work? Many folks may be reluctant to open an Excel spreadsheet from an unknown source. Thanks.
