Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the nature of time, its representation through clocks, and the implications of traveling at or faster than the speed of light. Participants explore philosophical and physical aspects of time, including its presence and relationship with motion, as well as the properties of light.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant questions whether time is a presence and how clocks represent it.
  • Another participant asserts that no object with mass can travel at or faster than the speed of light.
  • A participant inquires about the nature of light, asking if it has mass, and later clarifies that light is without rest mass.
  • The initial poster speculates about the implications of a space shuttle traveling faster than light, questioning what would happen to time inside and outside the shuttle.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the nature of time and the possibility of exceeding the speed of light, indicating that multiple competing views remain. The discussion does not reach a consensus on these topics.

Contextual Notes

Some claims depend on definitions of time and mass, and there are unresolved questions regarding the implications of traveling at or faster than the speed of light.

Hi,

Sorry first, my language is bad.

Is time presence? If yes, how the clock represent the time?

Is the time bring us to go? Or we go with time?

Let say a space shuttle over the speed of light. Which will over the past? Inside or outside the space shuttle? Both? Or the space shuttle can't over the speed of light?
