SUMMARY

The discussion centers on simplifying the equation X = y / (a/b). Mick initially expresses confusion over the formulation but receives clarification that it can be rewritten as X = ay/b. The key takeaway is the mathematical principle of inverting and multiplying when dividing by a fraction, which leads to the simplified expression.

Help,

How do I get X

a/b = y/x

I get to:

x = y / (a/b)

but this seems silly?

Cheers,

Mick

Only that it is a little easier to write it as x= ay/b. Remember that to divide by a fraction, you "invert and multiply": y/(a/b)= y(b/a)= by/a.
