I remember him first as “Yosser Hughes” in the UK 1980s drama, “Black stuff.”

He played a Liverpudlian in the drama but was from Manchester.

Sadly, this is the only unanswered thread I felt qualified to answer today... Yes, I remember him as Captain Edward Smith in Titanic.
