AI Thread Summary
Research on road vehicle drag focuses on the relationship between drag and turbulence, as well as how engineers design vehicles to optimize aerodynamics and performance. Key areas of interest include the types of drag—parasitic, form, skin friction, and interference drag. Aesthetic considerations also play a role in aerodynamic design, influencing both performance and visual appeal. Users recommend starting with resources like Wikipedia for foundational knowledge. The urgency of completing the report by Friday adds pressure to select relevant information efficiently.

Hi

i'm writting a report on road vehicle drag.

Are there any free resources online / journals that i can use for research?

my questions:

Relationship between Drag and Turbulence
what does a engineer design in a car? (engines, the body-aerodynamics..)
and the relationship between aesthetics and aerodynamic drag performance.

Any help wouuld be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to PF.

You'll need to do the heavy lifting on this. But perhaps Wikipedia would be a generally good place to start?

More specifically:
Types of drag are generally divided into the following categories:
parasitic drag, consisting of
o form drag,
o skin friction,
o interference drag,

Thanks LowlyPion!
it's a lot of work! because its not a very extensive report, probably up till about 5pgs , size12 font, so got to select what's important! and limited time! lol ! due this friday! ARGH

Hi Natalieng,
Im writing a similar kind of report and i would like to know if you wouldn't mind posting yours online so that i could have a look at it.
Thanks :)

Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
TL;DR Summary: I came across this question from a Sri Lankan A-level textbook. Question - An ice cube with a length of 10 cm is immersed in water at 0 °C. An observer observes the ice cube from the water, and it seems to be 7.75 cm long. If the refractive index of water is 4/3, find the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. I could not understand how the apparent height of the ice cube in the water depends on the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. Does anyone have an...
