Simple Electron Guns - Sources & Vacuum Storage Solutions

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on sourcing small electron guns for vacuum applications, specifically highlighting the limitations of using TV CRT guns due to filament degradation when exposed to atmosphere. The primary supplier mentioned is Kimball Physics, known for more advanced electron guns that may exceed a budget of $500. Users are encouraged to explore online search results for potential alternatives, emphasizing the need for devices that can operate effectively under vacuum conditions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of vacuum technology and its applications
  • Familiarity with electron gun functionality and types

Does anyone know of a good source for small electron guns? Just a simple one. I was using a TV CRT gun but the filaments don't last when exposed to atmosphere. I obviously operate under vacuum but I have no way to store my device in a vacuum for a long period.

I googled electron gun buy, and got some reasonable hits. See if any would work for you:

The only supplier of them that I found was Kimball Physics, however those seem to be more complicated and advanced guns, which are most likely out of my ~500$ price range. I haven't received a quote from them as of now.
