SUMMARY

The discussion centers around the need for software that can convert handwritten mathematical expressions into digital format on a Genius tablet. The user specifically seeks alternatives to general handwriting recognition tools like Abby FineReader, emphasizing the requirement for software tailored to mathematical notation. A reference to Maple's handwriting recognition feature is made, but it is noted that this tool is limited to a small drawing area for math symbols. The user is looking for more comprehensive solutions that can handle a wider range of mathematical inputs.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mathematical notation and symbols
  • Familiarity with tablet input devices, specifically the Genius tablet
  • Basic knowledge of handwriting recognition technology
  • Awareness of software applications for mathematical computation, such as Maple
NEXT STEPS
  • Research software options like MyScript Math and Mathway for handwriting recognition
  • Explore features of Maple 2023 for enhanced mathematical input capabilities
  • Investigate the capabilities of Microsoft OneNote for math equation recognition
  • Look into Wacom tablets and their compatible software for math input
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for educators, students, and professionals in mathematics or engineering who require efficient tools for converting handwritten math into digital formats.

Hi

I have a Genius tablet. Is there a software which provides a space where I can write math stuff on the tablet and it automatically converts the written (or, more correctly drawn on the tablet) into digital form? I don't need a software to recognize handwritten material such as Abby FineReader, I need one to recognize drawn math stuff. While searching online I found this webpage: http://www.maplesoft.com/products/maple/features/easy/handwriting.aspx#

But it only provides a small window to draw only math symbols. Please let me know if you know of any such software application. Thanks.
