Calculate Solar Power Requirements: Formula for Home Energy Needs

AI Thread Summary
To calculate the solar power requirements for a home, start by determining the average annual energy consumption. Next, assess the sunlight exposure on the property, including the intensity of sunlight in the area. By using this data, one can calculate the necessary solar panel capacity to meet energy needs. The process involves understanding how photoelectric cells convert sunlight into usable power. Accurate calculations ensure that solar energy can effectively supply a home’s energy demands throughout the year.

If all energy can be traced back to the sun, how would you calculate how much sun is needed to provide power to a home for one year? Is there a formula?

it can be done. You need to know the average power used in a home over the year. Then calculate the amount of sun light that falls on the house. If you know the intensity of the sunlight over an area you can calculate the power. But you said that all energy can be traced back to the sun, I am assuming through photoelectric cells the power is being stored.

I have recently been really interested in the derivation of Hamiltons Principle. On my research I found that with the term ##m \cdot \frac{d}{dt} (\frac{dr}{dt} \cdot \delta r) = 0## (1) one may derivate ##\delta \int (T - V) dt = 0## (2). The derivation itself I understood quiet good, but what I don't understand is where the equation (1) came from, because in my research it was just given and not derived from anywhere. Does anybody know where (1) comes from or why from it the...
