AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around understanding the impulse function x[n] = [1 2 3 4] defined for n = -4 to 0. Participants clarify that the values in the brackets represent amplitudes at specific indices, with an amplitude of 2 at n = -3. However, a concern is raised regarding the mismatch between the five indices from -4 to 0 and the four elements provided in the bracket. This discrepancy suggests that additional clarification or elements may be needed to fully define the function. The conversation highlights the importance of correctly aligning the number of elements with the specified range of indices in impulse functions.

Homework Statement

Hi guys,

I tried google for it but no avail so i seek for your help. I have a impulse function x[n] = [1 2 3 4] for n= -4 to 0

The Attempt at a Solution

what does the 1 2 3 4 inside the bracket mean? at n = -3, there is a amplitude of 2?

Thank you.

Yes, that's what I would interpret it as.

Thanks...

Although on second thought... -4 to 0 is a total of 5 indices. But you have only 4 elements in your brackets.

Thread 'Have I solved this structural engineering equation correctly?'
Hi all, I have a structural engineering book from 1979. I am trying to follow it as best as I can. I have come to a formula that calculates the rotations in radians at the rigid joint that requires an iterative procedure. This equation comes in the form of: $$ x_i = \frac {Q_ih_i + Q_{i+1}h_{i+1}}{4K} + \frac {C}{K}x_{i-1} + \frac {C}{K}x_{i+1} $$ Where: ## Q ## is the horizontal storey shear ## h ## is the storey height ## K = (6G_i + C_i + C_{i+1}) ## ## G = \frac {I_g}{h} ## ## C...
