SR830 Lockin Amplifier

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on using the SR830 Lock-In Amplifier (LIA) to measure the current of a Hall bar device. The user seeks to apply a sine wave voltage at one terminal while measuring current at the gating electrode, treating the setup as a capacitor. Concerns arise regarding potential overload in the X and Y outputs due to high resistance values. The conversation also touches on the distinction between measuring DC and AC magnetic fields and the importance of understanding the experimental setup. Clarification through a diagram is requested to better visualize the proposed method.

TL;DR Summary
How can i use sr830 amplifier to measure current(I) of a hall device?
I want to measure the current of hall bar device using sr830 LIA. it is possible with sr830 to measure current but how ?

Welcome to PF.

What have you found in your research on this so far? How much have you used Lock-In amplifiers in the past, and for what tasks? What does your experiment look like so far for measuring the current of your Hall sensor (versus magnetic field?)?

The SR 830 has a current measurement mode shown in the user manual. However, most Hall devices provide an output voltage.
Do you want to measure a DC or AC magnetic field?

Thankyou all for the reply
actually what i want to do was put sin out at one voltage terminal and A at the gating electrode, From there measure the current. basically it will be acting as a capacitor. the resistance between the voltage terminal and gate electrode is in Mohm. So by using A(Current input 10^6 or 10^8) i think it is possible but it might show overload in X and Y

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you want to do. Could you post a diagram?

Hi all I have some confusion about piezoelectrical sensors combination. If i have three acoustic piezoelectrical sensors (with same receive sensitivity in dB ref V/1uPa) placed at specific distance, these sensors receive acoustic signal from a sound source placed at far field distance (Plane Wave) and from broadside. I receive output of these sensors through individual preamplifiers, add them through hardware like summer circuit adder or in software after digitization and in this way got an...
I have recently moved into a new (rather ancient) house and had a few trips of my Residual Current breaker. I dug out my old Socket tester which tell me the three pins are correct. But then the Red warning light tells me my socket(s) fail the loop test. I never had this before but my last house had an overhead supply with no Earth from the company. The tester said "get this checked" and the man said the (high but not ridiculous) earth resistance was acceptable. I stuck a new copper earth...
Thread 'Beauty of old electrical and measuring things, etc.'
Even as a kid, I saw beauty in old devices. That made me want to understand how they worked. I had lots of old things that I keep and now reviving. Old things need to work to see the beauty. Here's what I've done so far. Two views of the gadgets shelves and my small work space: Here's a close up look at the meters, gauges and other measuring things: This is what I think of as surface-mount electrical components and wiring. The components are very old and shows how...
