Depends on the source. Different countries have different standards for producing mild steel.

The basic mild steel produced in the US, for instance, is ASTM A36.

In Europe, the steel products there may be produced to one of several different national standards, like BS or DIN. Ditto steel from Japan, the JIS standard.

In most cases, check with a supplier to find out what standards are used to make their products.
