To simplify the square root fraction 10/√5 + √20, first, recognize that √20 can be simplified to 2√5. Then, convert 10/√5 by multiplying the numerator and denominator by √5, resulting in 10√5/5, which simplifies to 2√5. Adding these two results, 2√5 + 2√5, yields 4√5. Thus, the simplified form of the expression is confirmed as 4√5.

Hello Mooija and welcome to MHB. :)

√20 = √4√5 = 2√5

10/√5 = 10√5/5 = 2√5

Here is a little puzzle from the book 100 Geometric Games by Pierre Berloquin. The side of a small square is one meter long and the side of a larger square one and a half meters long. One vertex of the large square is at the center of the small square. The side of the large square cuts two sides of the small square into one- third parts and two-thirds parts. What is the area where the squares overlap?
