Under what topic can I ask about optimal control

Click For Summary
Optimal control can be discussed under the topic of electrical engineering, particularly within control theory. Key concepts include Kalman filters, which are essential for various applications, including aerospace engineering. Courses in mathematical optimization also provide a strong foundation for understanding optimal control. These subjects are interconnected and critical for advanced engineering applications. Engaging in these topics can enhance knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspects of control systems.

Perhaps you are looking for electrical engineering. I took an EE course once that covered lots of control theory. I learned about Kalman filters and so on. As Kalman liked to point out, his work was one reason we were able to land on the moon. I took another course, definitely one of the harder ones, on mathematical optimization, also from the electrical engineering department.

Thanks

Here is a little puzzle from the book 100 Geometric Games by Pierre Berloquin. The side of a small square is one meter long and the side of a larger square one and a half meters long. One vertex of the large square is at the center of the small square. The side of the large square cuts two sides of the small square into one- third parts and two-thirds parts. What is the area where the squares overlap?
