Radial float refers to the allowable movement or tolerance in a radial direction, often specified in engineering blueprints. In this context, a notation like "RADIAL FLOAT - + 0.06" indicates a tolerance of plus or minus 0.06 units in the radius of a hole. This tolerance is crucial for ensuring proper fit and function in mechanical assemblies. Understanding radial float is essential for accurate interpretation of engineering designs. Properly applying this concept can significantly impact the performance of the final product.

Hello everybody... another basic question. While trying interpreting a blueprint I stumbled on RADIAL FLOAT . Do you know a definition for a Radial Float?

Thnx

Welcome to the PF. Just Googling the title of your thread gives lots of informative hits. Here's one:

Thank you! Yes, I have already read that page but the problem is, what about a blueprint that reads
RADIAL FLOAT - + 0.06? Does that indicate the tolerance in the radius of a hole?

Thnx

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
