Homework Statement

Let’s assume the MilkyWay disk in the Solar neighborhood has a constant density,P = 0.15 M pc−3. In that case, what is the vertical oscillation frequency in the
Solar neighborhood? What is the oscillation period?

Homework Equations

p=2pie/v
from my mechanics class i have v=(k/m)^1/2

The Attempt at a Solution

would I use the same formula as i would in mechanics? I know frequency in mechanics is w=(k/m)^1/2 , but why am i given density. in my notes in the astrophysics class i have v^2=d^2 (I) /dz^2| z=0 would I use this to find it? note (I) is some greek letter i think

nvm found it its v=4pieGp)^1/2
