For beginners in biology, several resources are recommended. "Molecular Biology of the Cell" by Alberts et al. is noted for its comprehensive approach to cell biology, although it may not cover all beginner topics. The Campbell Biology series is also suggested as a solid introduction to fundamental concepts. It's advised to start with a freshman-level textbook, which can typically be found at local colleges. Additionally, subscribing to a general biology journal or magazine can enhance understanding and retention of biological concepts, especially for those with a strong interest in the subject.

I second this idea. I would also recommend a subscription to a general biology journal or magazine of some sort. If the topic really interests you, and you read all your issues, you would be amazed how much you actually pick up.

As child, before I got my first X-ray, I used to fantasize that I might have a mirror image anatomy - my heart on the right, my appendix on the right. Why not? (Caveat: I'm not talking about sci-fi molecular-level mirroring. We're not talking starvation because I couldn't process certain proteins, etc.) I'm simpy tlakng about, when a normal zygote divides, it technically has two options which way to form. Oen would expcet a 50:50 split. But we all have our heart on the left and our...
