Hi,

I'm applying to Waterloo's Engineering program right now, but am torn between mechatronics engineering and mechanical engineering (with a possible mechatronics option in 3rd/4th years).

I recognize the importance of the interdisciplinary nature of mechatronics to the industry, but I have some concerns.

Is it true that choosing a specialized field such as mechatronics for undergrad is a bad idea?
Is it better to study mechanical for undergrad and then go to grad school for mechatronics?

Help is appreciated
Thanks
