I have a 2.5hp treadmill DC motor and would like to hook up a controller to it.

Are there any products out in circulation that would have this built into them for a salvaging attempt, or maybe a dirt cheap alternative?

Heck, I would even love to make one myself if I could.

is it a DC or AC motor ? low or hi voltage ?

PWM controller circuits are the usual way to control a motor

Simple motor controllers can be found in a variety of products, including power tools, appliances, and vehicles. In terms of salvaging, you may be able to find a motor controller in old or broken devices that use similar motors, such as treadmills, electric scooters, or small electric vehicles. However, it is important to note that motor controllers are typically designed for specific motor types and specifications, so it may not be a straightforward or reliable solution.

If you are interested in making your own motor controller, there are many DIY resources available online, including tutorials and open-source designs. However, it is important to have a strong understanding of electrical engineering and programming in order to safely and effectively create a motor controller for your specific motor. It may also be more cost-effective to purchase a pre-made motor controller that is specifically designed for your motor's specifications.
