Homework Statement


The following statements may or may not accurately describe what you would find just outside the event horizon of an extremely massive black hole like Gargantua (fake black hole), at a distance corresponding to an orbital circumference of 1.0001 times the horizon circumference. True or false for each.

1. Tidal forces cause the force on your head to be stronger than that on your feet, so you are violently squashed together.
2. Any messages you send to the outside world take essentially an infinite amount of time to get there.
3. You feel a gravitational force towards the event horizon.
4. When you look up at the night sky above you, you can see an infinite number of images of the outside universe spread all over your field of view.
5. All orbits are unstable, so instead of orbiting, you hover above the horizon.
6. The laws of physics do not hold.

I'm pretty sure #6 is true and 1, 4 are false but I've tried 45 times and can't seem to get the right answer. even looked in my textbook. please help it's due soon. Thanks!
