What happens when you remove oil from a rotary pump?

Hello everyone, i had one doubt in my mind regarding Rotary oil pump.
The Question is what would happen if we remove oil from the Rotary oil pump. What would be its effects?

The most noticable effect would likely be that the pump's motor, spinning without any load to provide resistance, would spin too fast and then burn out.
