What is the Physics Behind Colonizing Mars and Einstein's Elevator?

How did you find PF?
Via Google search about some physics issue or the other.
I just discovered this forum searching for some entertaining science issue - I don't remember what. Then I got sucked into a rabbit hole of reading pages and pages of a old discussion of colonizing Mars. Very interesting (I'll pass, thanks). Then I read about Einstein's elevator. I was gratified to see that here nobody's confused by the simple fact that there would be multiple ways to determine if you were being accelerated or pulled by gravity (my sister, the PhD, sees me as a crazy vain fool who thinks he knows more than Einstein, but I'm not and I don't).

I recently graduated from high school (in my 60s, yes 60s) but I have a couple of AA degrees and I was privileged to teach electronics classes at my community college for several years.

I'm looking forward to asking physics questions here. Thanks for the opportunity.

Hello and :welcome: !

Have fun!

Thank you.

Hi, I am a neurosurgeon from Turkey with an interest in physics. I don't have formal training in theoretical physics or advanced mathematics, but i enjoy trying to build intuition about spacetime. I joined Physics Forums to ask conceptual questions, learn where my intuitions break down, and get feedback from people who understand the formal theory much better than I do. Looking forward to learning from the discussions here.
