What is the Shape of a Pv Diagram for an Impulse Turbine?

In summary, a Pv diagram of a turbine is a graphical representation of the pressure-volume relationship during the operation of a turbine. It is useful in understanding the thermodynamics and efficiency of the turbine and can help optimize its design and performance. The horizontal axis represents volume and the vertical axis represents pressure. The different sections in the diagram represent the different stages of the turbine. By measuring the area under the curve, the work done by the turbine can be calculated and its efficiency can be determined.

We were given a project to fabricate and analyze hydroelectric power generation system. My question is what will be the shape of Pv diagram for turbine. I think it would be a point because during the process the pressure and specific volume of liquid water do not change.

Well maybe..
What type of turbine have you already investigated, a reaction turbine or impulse turbine?

What is a Pv diagram of a turbine?

A Pv diagram of a turbine is a graphical representation of the pressure-volume relationship during the operation of a turbine. It shows how the pressure and volume of the working fluid change as it moves through the different stages of the turbine.

How is a Pv diagram of a turbine useful?

A Pv diagram of a turbine is useful in understanding the thermodynamics and efficiency of the turbine. It can also help in optimizing the design and performance of the turbine.

What are the axes in a Pv diagram of a turbine?

The horizontal axis represents volume and the vertical axis represents pressure in a Pv diagram of a turbine.

What do the different sections in a Pv diagram of a turbine represent?

The different sections in a Pv diagram of a turbine represent the different stages of the turbine, such as the inlet, compression, expansion, and exhaust stages.

How can a Pv diagram of a turbine be used to calculate work and efficiency?

By measuring the area under the curve on a Pv diagram of a turbine, the work done by the turbine can be calculated. The efficiency of the turbine can also be calculated by comparing the work done by the turbine to the theoretical work that could be done in an isentropic process.
