What is the Simplified Equation for a Uniform Electric Field?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on simplifying the equation for a uniform electric field, specifically addressing the mathematical manipulation required to achieve a clearer form. The key steps involve factoring out 1/4 from the square root and ensuring that all factors, particularly those related to a/2, are accurately tracked throughout the simplification process. Participants emphasize the importance of clarity in mathematical expressions to facilitate understanding and correctness in solutions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electric fields and their properties
  • Familiarity with algebraic manipulation and simplification techniques
  • Knowledge of square roots and their properties
  • Basic grasp of physics equations related to electrostatics
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the principles of electric fields in electrostatics
  • Learn advanced algebraic techniques for simplifying equations
  • Explore the concept of mathematical equivalency in physics
  • Review examples of uniform electric field equations and their applications

Maybe my answer is right but not simplified enough. But if it is I am having trouble seeing the mathematical equivalency. Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Most of that is hard to read, but if you just ask about the answer: Factor out 1/4 in the square root and then get it out of the square root.

Also, I don't think you kept track of the factors of a/2 circled below
