SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on sourcing electronic components online, specifically a 50v 220uf capacitor and a 1/4w 30k ohm resistor. Key suppliers mentioned include Digi-Key, Mouser, Farnell, and Newark Electronics, with additional recommendations for hobbyist sites like All Electronics and Jameco. Users also highlighted the importance of local stores, such as MicroCenter and All State Electronics in New York City, for immediate needs. The conversation emphasizes the value of stocking up on components due to shipping costs and the closure of local shops like Argo Electronics.

Can you guys send me the link to the website to buy the 50v 220uf capacitor and 1/4w 30k ohm resistor? Since radio shack went out, its harder to find electronic component stores in my area
Thanks

Search on hobby sites. All Electronics, Jameco are two I've used.

If you're planning on more projects consider their "Grab Bags" , literally a bagful of miscellaneous parts . You'll find shipping costs more than the parts so you might as well stock up. There's Ebay too.

New york city and thanks everyone
If you know of a nyc store let me know
I’ve been searching online

Argo Electronics was great for surplus, but I've learned last year they closed shop.

The sources Jim and Dave listed are all good, and I'll add Allied Electronics and Newark Electronics (although they tend to be more expensive).

http://www.bgmicro.com/ is another vendor in the inexpensive, hobbyist vein, and I've found a 2013 list with others. I'd be remiss not to mention the NEPA coal region's very own Moyer Electronics. Their web presence is bare minimum, and the physical locations have an old-timey hardware store feel, but they carry a surprisingly wide variety of parts and test gear.

Some years ago there was a great old radio junkshop on Canal Street toward east end. All i remember is bushel baskets of tubes and components, old oscilloscopes and the like. I hope he's still there.

The closest to an electronics store I have come across lately is MicroCenter - but they are more heavily into Arduino and Pi type things, still for some basic components they may have what you need - there are stores in Yonkers, Brooklyn, Flushing and Paterson NJ.

Hey all
I found a store All State Electronics at jamaica queens nyc. Their webpage offers capacitors for 33cents but no resistors but i drove there anyway. The guy had the resistor but tried to sell me 1.50 each for the capacitor but i balked at that and he knocked it to $1 each. He had 1/4w 33k ohm resistors instead of 30k. 50cent each. So i got 2 capacitors 50v 220uf 105celsius and 2 resistors for total $3.27. Yes overcharged but he’s the only guy in town. Installed and my GE spacesaver xl1800 works again. I even found the circuit diagram hidden inside the microwave not behind the pcb. But the diagram only refers to the pcb as a component vs a circuit diagram of the board so its useless in that regards
