Where Did the Cut and Paste Functions Go?

AI Thread Summary
The Control-X and Control-V functions are still available, but may appear disabled in preview mode. Users should look for red icons at the top of the edit window to identify this mode. Enabling the functions can be done by clicking the "[ ]" symbol, which turns the red icons dark grey. It's important to note that toggling this option resets the cursor to the top left of the edit window, requiring users to reposition it before pasting. Overall, the cut and paste functions remain intact with some adjustments needed for proper use.

Where have the Control-X, V functions gone? Or, have I lost my mind...wasn't paying attention to administrative notes?

They are still there. Nothing has changed. Perhaps if you got into the preview mode, they appear disabled. Look for red icons at the top of the edit window to indicate preview mode.

Okay, got rid of the red warnings; now what's "it" want? Thank you, by the way for the initial coaching.

When clicking the "[ ]" symbol causes the red icons to turn dark grey, that means they are enabled, including the paste function. I always have to do that when pasting in figures/pictures. Does ctrl-v work for you now to paste in? (BTW, be a little careful because toggling the "[ ]" thing causes the cursor to reset to the top left of the Edit window, so you need to relocate it before trying the ctrl-v paste)

Thanks. I'll try it next time the "need" overtakes me.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
