haha.. actually, I only chose 9 candidates, but the maximum number of poll is 10 so I include my pic. haha. Since my favorite number is 7, i put my pic there. ^__^.

Well, as I've said, filipinos have different taste. Just curious, if..what would foreigners think about those popular filipina actresses. American women are more beautiful than filipinas.

My mother said that if you compare those actresses to the americans.. they are just ordinary!

Personally, I found 9 out of 10 of them too professionally quaffed to know how beautiful they are. In particular, they're quite Westernized. Oceanic women are most beautiful au naturel. Strip all that makeup off, give them only sunlight and a soft fill light and we'll see who the real beauties are.

(EDIT:: Ah. I see I'm come a little late to the table with my 'pinions. For some reason, I missed all but the first page of posts.)

Frankly, this says a lot more about your mother's idea of beauty than the rest of the world's.


Certainly, the West - and Hollywood in particular - has turned pop beauty into a science. But most people are more savvy than that and look for real beauty.

I find this kind of thinking rather disturbing. Beauty is indigenous to local culture. To hold one culture's sense of beauty to another's is just a bit perverse, IMO.

I agree with Mayday, what on Earth is the point of this thread?

I tend to go counter-culture, and not by conscious choice. Asiatic features tend to be more attractive to me than other ethnic types. W being Cree has nothing to do with why I'm with her, but it is a bonus.

Some of my best friends for the last 30+ years have been Filipino and I find this thread distasteful and I am looking for a reason it should not be locked.

It just brings to mind mail order bride sites.

Well yes, but that's a dead end argument, much like "good and evil are subjective". While perhaps ultimately true, it doesn't have to bring discussion to a stop.

I'm not sure what harm it's doing. I'm not reading any of this as Philipino-bashing. It's an interesting discussion about beauty and subjectivity.

And idk why padre ... lol, I've been in the USA since I was 6 (23 now), so my Tagalog is really bad. Everytime I go home I refuse to talk in English, so I always get made fun of for my slang.
