SUMMARY

The TI-89 calculator calculates definite integrals by default, returning numerical results even when no bounds are specified. Users seeking to obtain the antiderivative must clear any variable assignments, such as using the command "delvar x" on the TI-92. This behavior can lead to confusion when expecting a symbolic result instead of a numerical one. Understanding how to manipulate variable states is crucial for accurate calculations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with TI-89 calculator functions
  • Understanding of integral calculus concepts
  • Knowledge of variable management on graphing calculators
  • Experience with symbolic versus numerical computation
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to use the TI-89's symbolic integration features
  • Learn about variable management commands on TI calculators
  • Explore the differences between definite and indefinite integrals
  • Investigate common pitfalls in using graphing calculators for calculus
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and professionals using TI-89 calculators for calculus, particularly those needing clarity on integral calculations and variable management.

When I use the integral feature, my TI-89 is giving a numerical answer even if I'm not selecting any bounds for integration (i.e., if I'm just taking the antiderivative). It's as if there's an implicit integral or something. How do I change this so I can just get a normal antiderivative?

For example, if the function is x (or whatever) and I do int[x,x] it gives 1/32 instead of 1/2 x^2

You set x to 1/4, you need to clear that variable (on my TI92 that's delvar x).

I am having a hell of a time finding a good all-in-one inkjet printer. I must have gone through 5 Canon, 2 HP, one Brother, one Epson and two 4 X 6 photo printers in the last 7 yrs. all have all sort of problems. I don't even know where to start anymore. my price range is $180-$400, not exactly the cheapest ones. Mainly it's for my wife which is not exactly good in tech. most of the problem is the printers kept changing the way it operate. Must be from auto update. I cannot turn off the...
