AI Thread Summary
The discussion critiques the game "Bioshock," highlighting its gameplay and themes as disturbing and sadistic, particularly the use of young girls as resources for gaining "Eve." Critics argue that the game's terminology, particularly "Adam and Eve," carries sexual connotations and implies a deeper, unsettling message. Despite the negative reception from some players, the game receives high praise from critics, raising questions about whether the most controversial games are deemed the best. Participants emphasize that players have a choice to save or harvest the girls, with rewards tied to the moral decisions made. The conversation also touches on concerns regarding the game's installation process and potential security risks.

By your own admission you only played it for 15 minutes. Your complaints about the game were based on misconceptions about the game play which have been explained to you so further discussion seems redundant.

You played for 15 minutes, but complained for 2-3 hours.

Who's the one with the problem, the people who made the game or YOU?

This game is just as Satanic as the choices that you have to make on a daily basis. It's your interpretation.

The meaning is what's described on the advertisements. Please read, word for word, then rethink your analysis...

The history of Rapture is learned by the player through audio recordings as they explore the city. Secretly built in 1946 on the mid-Atlantic seabed, Rapture was entirely self-sufficient and powered by submarine volcanoes. Constructed by business magnate Andrew Ryan (voice by Armin Shimerman), Rapture was envisioned as the solution to what he saw as increasingly oppressive political and religious authority. The city was populated by those whom Ryan believed exemplified the best in humanity. It was revealed in an audio log that Ryan wanted Rapture to become an "Eden," a concept furthered by the resources ADAM and EVE, which are named after the biblical inhabitants of Eden. During the early 1950s, Rapture's population peaked at several thousand, though an elite emerged, discomforting many of the inhabitants.

I give up too. Bioshock fans are hard to sway. Many admit they like the game specifically because it is so sadistic, and some just deny the sadisticness of it. Then there is the debate: it is sadistic, but who cares? I think I have made my point very clear throughout this thread. Read what I wrote, and take in what from it you want, only my perspective.

There is NO part of the game that ever mentions or infers sexually abusing children.

You're adding that aspect to it on your own accord.

Satanists are so stupid. They love to justify their actions by the actions of others. "He does it, so I can do it." Back to the theme that the world is cruel so being cruel is excusable. So you think that the fact that catholic priests have molested children that it is ok. What is next a game where you are a priest and you go around molesting children?

I'm not a Bioshock fan. In fact I didn't like the game that much, nor will I buy it.

They key part is, I nor anyone else that I have ever talked to that have played the game, have ever mentioned the crazy things that you're making up.

Considering the disturbing games that are out there I find it amusing you pick on Bioshock, which is lame comparitively.

In my opinion their is a subliminal message suggestive of that. The quote you are referring to is a response to someone saying that the church of satan isn't evil. The church of satan advocates that.

The're not subliminal, THEY'RE AS BLATANT AS THEY CAN BE. Read and UNDERSTAND the setting behind Bioshock.

You're looking too deep into something that isn't deep.

Saying that bioshock isn't a deep game is flat out wrong and everyone who has ever played it knows that. The very appeal of the game is how deep the game is, how everything in it is for a purpose. The very story of the game is so philosophically deep that man still hasn't solved it. The game goes deep into the realm of religion, why it exists, and into the questionable nature of mankind.

In the game you don't have a choice whether or not to kill the enemy. As I said before, they make you feel sorry for them, then they make you kill them. I hope I am never presented with that in real life.

GTA is like sonic the hedgehog compared to Bioshock. I haven't play the others you mentioned, but you still haven't explained why. I played hitman and it is bad, but didn't bother me that much.

The more I hear how other people view this game, the more I feel I must be very different than most people. I also get the feeling that satanism is a very popular philosophy.

You're half right. You're very different than most people. Get you to a therapist. You're not the GOOD kind of different. You are over reacting and I am really afraid you are going to have some sort of panic attack in a moment. Nobody should get this worked up over a game like that.

Or maybe you're just sheltered? I had to read All Quiet on the Western Front in High School. What about you?

Go on Youtube and search for Men Behind the Sun.
