The discussion critiques the game "Bioshock," highlighting its gameplay and themes as disturbing and sadistic, particularly the use of young girls as resources for gaining "Eve." Critics argue that the game's terminology, particularly "Adam and Eve," carries sexual connotations and implies a deeper, unsettling message. Despite the negative reception from some players, the game receives high praise from critics, raising questions about whether the most controversial games are deemed the best. Participants emphasize that players have a choice to save or harvest the girls, with rewards tied to the moral decisions made. The conversation also touches on concerns regarding the game's installation process and potential security risks.

Isn't that what satan said to adam? Further evidence that the game is Satanic

That is like saying why do people get so upset about torture, if you don't like it , don't watch it. This further makes my point about the rational self interest philosophy. The idea that one should care nothing of what happens to anyone but themeself.

Too me it is like walking by and seeing someone hit a child, they see you and say mind your own business, so you are just supposed to walk by as of it doesn't concern you.

All it takes is for good men to do nothing for everything to go to hell.

  • #35
Yes. Hitting a child and torture are quite on the same level as a 17+ Mature Rated videogame.

Allowing freedom is not turning a blind eye. Thats like saying if you don't chose peoples lives out completely for them then you go to hell because you didn't stop them from committing a sin.

This is so ridiculously off topic and wandering into some sort of religious argument about values.

  • #36
Thats not really off topic since that is the theme of the game.

Some forms of freedom are banned for a reason. Should we be free to kill and steal? Is putting a blind eye to it allowing freedom?

Freedom is made through action. All it takes is for good men to do nothing for everything to go to hell. What does freedom mean anyways? Does true freedom equal anarchy and lawlessness? Freedom as we know and love it is actually achieved through limiting freedom in the literal sense. Limit it too much, and things are bad, not limit it at all, bad. That is why it is important for people to speak up when something is wrong.

More like further evidence that Satan is frickin' awesome.

Why are you worked up about the game being satanic or not?

You have games such as Diablo, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_2[/ur , and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_Keeper[/PLAIN] that are much more OPENLY satanic.

Honestly, I don't see why people would try to slip satanism into a video game undetected when they could do it blatantly and out in the open, instead.

You need to chill out. You've been working yourself up over this really hard. If this is a normal occurrence for you, you might want to consider counseling. I mean, you really do sound off your rocker in these last few posts.

They have a church of satan that advocates ritual sexual abuse of children, and selfishness is their guiding principle. I don't think satanism is a good influence on anyone.

Maybe your right, but I have just been attempting to logically respond to people, and to explain my reasoning.

Like the previous posts stated, you're trying to interpret way too much from the game. Like Loops said, the Adam and Eve part of it is an indirect relation to Genesis, creation. I personally haven't played the game in it's entirety, but the demo that I did play OBVIOUSLY infers a Utopian society theme that the entire game revolves around... it's what the 'underwater world' part of the game is about... a theoretical Utopian society gone wrong.

Just like Bioshock, you can interpret whatever you want from ANYTHING. If I happen to pick up a pencil or pen I could, for example, immediately conjure images in my head of going out and murdering hundreds of people with that little #2 pencil. I could also do the same with any random rock I happen to find laying on the ground... or the keys in my pocket.

Also, the way you happened to pull 'rape' out of thin air immediately shows that an overactive imagination was a major player. I usually don't get as opinionated with issues like this, but since I do have first hand experience with this game, I can flat out tell you that you're spinning this thing better than FOX or CNN ever could.

I don't think Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or any other religion is, either.

Moreover, which chuch of satan were you referring to?

This one?

They are pretty delusional, like the rest, but they don't seem outright evil.

Is it evil to sexually abuse children?

Maybe I do have an big imagination, but this game has subliminal messages so deeply imbedded in it that I have no choice but to wonder the meaning.

You keep equating this game to things that actually HURT people and ask if its ok to have the freedom to hurt. This game has yet to hurt anyone, what is the problem? How is it wrong other than that it expresses views that conflict with your own. If it was some sort of recruiting device for a satanic cult then you may have an argument, but just because it displays things that YOU object to, you should show the humility and intelligence to respect other peoples desires/beliefs and choices.

I could just as easily argue about some Christian video game/alien video game/pornographic video game and say that people shouldn't be allowed access to it because it conflicts with my personal views, offends me, and makes me believe that anyone playing it could possibly be influenced to believe the games values (which happen to disagree with my own) and therefor should be banned.

I have a trust in society that most people legally playing this video game have the intelligence to distinguish reality from virtual.

This game is only good because it is said to challenge your beliefs and question your reality. If the game has an affect on how you perceive reality, and it is satanic in nature, then that is totally lame.

By your own admission you only played it for 15 minutes. Your complaints about the game were based on misconceptions about the game play which have been explained to you so further discussion seems redundant.

  • #52
You played for 15 minutes, but complained for 2-3 hours.

Who's the one with the problem, the people who made the game or YOU?

  • #53
This game is just as Satanic as the choices that you have to make on a daily basis. It's your interpretation.

Yeah, I am pretty sure a satanic cult isn't running Take 2...

I'm out of this, I give up.

The meaning is what's described on the advertisements. Please read, word for word, then rethink your analysis...

The history of Rapture is learned by the player through audio recordings as they explore the city. Secretly built in 1946 on the mid-Atlantic seabed, Rapture was entirely self-sufficient and powered by submarine volcanoes. Constructed by business magnate Andrew Ryan (voice by Armin Shimerman), Rapture was envisioned as the solution to what he saw as increasingly oppressive political and religious authority. The city was populated by those whom Ryan believed exemplified the best in humanity. It was revealed in an audio log that Ryan wanted Rapture to become an "Eden," a concept furthered by the resources ADAM and EVE, which are named after the biblical inhabitants of Eden. During the early 1950s, Rapture's population peaked at several thousand, though an elite emerged, discomforting many of the inhabitants.

I give up too. Bioshock fans are hard to sway. Many admit they like the game specifically because it is so sadistic, and some just deny the sadisticness of it. Then there is the debate: it is sadistic, but who cares? I think I have made my point very clear throughout this thread. Read what I wrote, and take in what from it you want, only my perspective.

There is NO part of the game that ever mentions or infers sexually abusing children.

You're adding that aspect to it on your own accord.

  • #59
Satanists are so stupid. They love to justify their actions by the actions of others. "He does it, so I can do it." Back to the theme that the world is cruel so being cruel is excusable. So you think that the fact that catholic priests have molested children that it is ok. What is next a game where you are a priest and you go around molesting children?

I'm not a Bioshock fan. In fact I didn't like the game that much, nor will I buy it.

They key part is, I nor anyone else that I have ever talked to that have played the game, have ever mentioned the crazy things that you're making up.
