SUMMARY

The discussion centers on a high school sophomore contemplating a career in engineering, specifically software engineering. The student is currently enrolled in Advanced Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry and Pre-AP Physics but missed the opportunity to join the school's engineering program, which requires enrollment by 9th grade. The student seeks guidance on alternative classes that would support their interest in engineering, particularly in light of their late interest development. The school has provided an answer to the student's query regarding suitable classes.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic programming concepts
  • Familiarity with mathematical principles, particularly in calculus and trigonometry
  • Knowledge of physics fundamentals
  • Awareness of high school engineering programs and their requirements
NEXT STEPS
  • Research introductory programming languages such as Python or Java
  • Explore online resources for high school engineering courses
  • Investigate extracurricular activities related to engineering, such as robotics clubs
  • Look into summer engineering camps or workshops for high school students
USEFUL FOR

High school students interested in pursuing engineering, educators advising students on course selections, and parents seeking guidance on supporting their children's engineering aspirations.

I don't know what type yet, but I like computers, so I am thinking of probably software engineer. I am a sophomore in High School, and I am taking Advanced Pre-Calc/Trig and Pre-AP Physics. There is an engineering program at our school, but unfortunately, I didn't sign up because over the summer is when I developed interest for engineering, and by that time, it was too late to join the engineering class :( ( you have to have joined by 9th grade). So I was wondering what type of classes would be geared toward engineering, now that I am not in the actual engineering class *grr*?
