Theoretical work on how momentum is carried or encoded?

Thank you. I actually did understand that it was a deep question. The answer you later gave me, that there's no actual way to say that it's "moving" at all, due to the fact that in it's own frame it isn't, is the best answer I could get. Thank you.

Theoretical work on how momentum is carried or encoded?

Oh, and I forgot to thank you. Thank you very much. This answers a question I've been pondering for quite a while, but have been unable to express in an understandable way. Thank you again.

Theoretical work on how momentum is carried or encoded?

You're absolutely right. about the nature of conservation laws, but your second statement was the winner in that it made the point clear. "Secondly, you'll notice that the object could actually be stationary in some reference frame, and that YOU are the one moving. So why should that object...

Theoretical work on how momentum is carried or encoded?

Hi Dave, Thank you for your reply. I'm going to make a wild guess and say that you're referring to his 1st rule: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Yeah, I've heard of it. The question remains - why? How is...

Theoretical work on how momentum is carried or encoded?

I am not looking for homework help on how to do the math for vectors and momentum. Nor do I expect to understand the answer theoretically, but is/has any work been done that examines what it is that "carries" or encodes or transfers momentum? By this I mean that a particle receives energy from...

How is the direction (vector?) of momentum stored physically

Thank you so much for your help. How do I upvote you?

How is the direction (vector?) of momentum stored physically

My stupidity is getting in the way again. What I am trying to say is much simpler really. Why do objects continue to move in any particular direction? Is there a particle that carries the direction?

How is the direction (vector?) of momentum stored physically

Homework Statement I am not a student, but one poster was kind enough to answer my stupid question last week, and I was wondering if anyone would mind if I posted another stupid question. When an object is moved in a specific direction, how is the direction of momentum stored or recorded. By...

Insights A Hand-Wavy Discussion of the Planck Length - Comments

I (a complete physics idiot) actually posted a question that made the assumption that objects gained mass as they approached the speed of light. I was soon set right. Thank you for your explication, hand-wavey or not, of the Planck length, because I was a victim of the (erroneous) Planck-length...

Is photon gravity lensing affected by frequency (energy)?

Thank you. I just wondered, and I didn't know enough (any) physics to answer the question myself.

Is photon gravity lensing affected by frequency (energy)?

Homework Statement I am NOT a student. Please forgive my asking here, but if you do choose to answer, I would appreciate it. Obviously any or all of the statements below may be incorrect... As I understand it: The more energy a photon has (I know it's also a wave) the greater the frequency...
