Ideas merging nuclear science & renewable energy technology

Cost efficient, polluting & legal guidelines? It's a freaking final year engineering project, none of that matters. All that matters is whether the school has the facilities & will provide sufficient funds. They just want to see that you can design & build something that applies the skills...

MCNP Input of Voxel Arrays and Their Universes

if you have a zero lattice element hit: it usually means you have a geometry error, overlapping cells, mis-defined cell surfaces etc check out this primer at the end is an excellent summary of common problems and their solutions...

Why are there only limited modes of radioactivity?

Quantum Mechanics/Particle Physics, some reactions and modes aren't allowed (conservation of parity, charge, mass etc). The other modes that are allowed have respective transition (decay rates) with certain process being favoured and being faster that others.

Working as a NE in the States as a Canadian

From what I've seen, Westinghouse won't consider if you don't already have a residence permit or student visa etc. Many others seem similar. I'm an ontarian working in France, and basically you're not going to have any luck here if you have't done a degree from here (which I did after Queen's...

    AECL CANDU Reactor Devision SOLD

I went to the INSTN Cadarache which is run by the Atomic Energy Commission (basically theyre national nuclear lab). The education was all in French so you have to be fluent. Also youre not going to get a job if you don't speak French (unless if you have years and years of valuable experience...

Doing said PhD should thus fulfill future visa requirements.

    AECL CANDU Reactor Devision SOLD

Just put in my 2 cents. I graduated from EngPhys at Queen's recently. Heavy amount of course load in Nuke eng and monte carlo simulations. Couldn't find a job in Canada (in Nuclear) since the hell AECL was going through. So I went and did a Masters in Nuke Eng in France where they have a...

    International Nuclear Engineering Internships

Hey, don't know if this will help. I'm studying nuclear engineering (Master's level) in France. I'm at the INSTN CEA Cadarache. Take a look online at the CEA Cadarache Stage (google should get you there), they traditionally post stages (french word for internship) that are for april...

Is a Master's in Nuclear Engineering Abroad the Key to Securing a Job in the US?

Nay, I've been looking consistently at the CNSC (the Canadian regulator). They never have any entry level jobs. And you having bilingualism should be a huge boon for that.

Is a Master's in Nuclear Engineering Abroad the Key to Securing a Job in the US?

Hey, I was just looking for people's feedback. I've completed a Bachelors in Engineering Physics (Canada) and a Masters in Subatomic Physics (France -research oriented, was originally leaning towards particle physics research not anymore). Needless to say theyres basically no nuclear jobs...

Exploring Nuclear and Particle Physics: Selecting an Undergrad Thesis Design

oh no, I'm much more interested in doing something along the lines of particle physics, like some component or some form of detector and an analysis of it. I suppose you could argue this should be in the engineering section...

Exploring Nuclear and Particle Physics: Selecting an Undergrad Thesis Design

haha, definitely not at my level. I'm in my last year of my undergrad in engineering physics, I've taken quantum theories up to perturbation, nuclear & particle physics, physics of nuclear reactors, general relativity, E & M (not covariant/relativist formalism) classical mechanics (lagrangian)...

Exploring Nuclear and Particle Physics: Selecting an Undergrad Thesis Design

Hi, I'm currently selecting my 4th year undergrad thesis design (its all technical/theoretical no hands on work). A couple of the topics given strike my fancy, but I'm particularly interested in Nuclear and Particle Physics of which they're are few topics given for us to choose from. We are...

Is Graduate Physics in France Funded and Can You Skip M1 with Prior Experience?

2 questions, I'm looking about going into grad physics in France. In Europe/France do you get paid for research or any guaranteed funding (ie in Canada you are generally guaranteed 20,000 cdn dollars and tuition is taken out of that) I know that tuition is next to nothing in Europe and...
