Is climate change still debated?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the relationship between civilization's reliance on fossil fuels and the resulting emissions that contribute to climate change. The original poster seeks to understand if there are any credible arguments against the established view that human activity, particularly through fossil fuel use, is a primary driver of climate change. They reference the IPCC report as a reliable source for information on the topic. However, the thread faces restrictions due to the forum's policy against overly broad questions, which can lead to discussions that are too expansive and difficult to manage. The moderators emphasize the need for focused inquiries to maintain the quality of discourse.

My current understanding is that civilization is built on fossil fuels, and the resulting emissions cause climate change. I'm wondering if anyone still has worthwhile arguments against this view, or whether there really is a debate.

This question is in violation of the PhysicsForums [thread=757267]Climate Change / Global Warming Policy[/thread], which explicitly states that
Threads such 'Is global warming real' or 'Are humans the cause of global warming' are too broad and are subject to being locked.

Overly broad questions are of dubious nature in general. Someone who asks "teach me everything about relativity!" is essentially asking people to write a book (multiple books) on the subject of relativity. That's not good in general, and it is explicitly against the rules here.

This summer, as a present to myself for being promoted, I purchased a collection of thin sections that I believe comprise the research materials of Prof. Rob Verschure, who at the time was faculty in the Geological Institute in Amsterdam. What changed this...
