I have seen the shifters for the slapstick transmissions(automatic and standard) I am just wandering how do they work?
Automatic shifters use a torque converter to shift gears automatically, while standard shifters require the driver to manually change gears using a clutch and shift lever.
The torque converter allows the engine to keep running while the car is at a stop, and also allows for smooth gear changes without stalling the engine.
The clutch connects and disconnects the engine from the transmission, allowing the driver to manually shift gears without stalling the engine.
A manual transmission requires the driver to manually shift gears, while an automatic transmission shifts gears automatically without any input from the driver.
When the driver moves the gear shift lever, it engages a series of rods or cables that connect to the transmission and change the position of the gears, thus changing the gear ratio and speed of the car.
