Lies, dammed lies and opinion polls.

- even if the pollsters have no overt political bias there are so many ways to get innacurate poll results.

By this he would have 355 of the 270 needed to win.

The assumption is that Obama would win all States where he has even a slight lead. Most polls show the results as "solid Obama" and "leaning Obama", which generally show Obama as just under or just over the 270 mark based on the solid States.

Interesting site, Vid - thanks!

1. What does it mean for Obama to have 355 electoral votes?

Having 355 electoral votes means that President Obama has won the majority of votes in the Electoral College and will be re-elected as President of the United States.

2. How is the number of electoral votes determined?

The number of electoral votes is determined by the number of representatives each state has in Congress. Each state has a certain number of electors, which is equal to the number of representatives in the House plus two for the senators.

3. Can the number of projected electoral votes change?

Yes, the number of projected electoral votes can change as more votes are counted and reported. However, projections are based on statistical analysis and are generally accurate.

4. How does the electoral college work?

The electoral college is a group of electors who are chosen by each state to cast their votes for President and Vice President. The number of electors for each state is equal to the state's representation in Congress. The candidate who wins the popular vote in a state receives all of that state's electoral votes. The candidate who receives a majority of the electoral votes (at least 270 out of 538) wins the election.

5. Has a candidate ever won with exactly 355 electoral votes before?

No, a candidate has never won with exactly 355 electoral votes before. However, President Obama won with 365 electoral votes in the 2008 election and 332 electoral votes in the 2012 election.
