Criterion for thanks to count?

In summary, the criterion for thanks to count is based on the sincerity and genuineness of the expression of gratitude. It should be determined by the tone, body language, and context of the expression. Thanks can still count even if it is not verbally expressed, as actions can also convey sincere gratitude. Expressing thanks in scientific research is important for maintaining a positive and collaborative environment, but not necessary for the validity of the research. Not counting thanks can lead to a lack of recognition and appreciation for contributors, negatively impacting motivation and creating a negative research environment.

It appears that not all 'thanks' count. In my 'thanks' tab, there is one that has gray cylinder next to it, and it doesn't count towards the total. What is the criterion for this?

Yes, thanks can still count even if it is not verbally expressed. Actions, such as gestures or acts of kindness, can also convey sincere gratitude and appreciation.

4. Is it important for thanks to count in scientific research?

Expressing gratitude and appreciation in scientific research is important in maintaining a positive and collaborative research environment. However, it is not a requirement for the validity or reliability of the research itself.

5. What are the potential consequences of not counting thanks?

Not counting thanks may lead to a lack of recognition and appreciation for individuals who have contributed to the research, which can negatively impact their motivation and morale. It can also create a negative and uncooperative research environment.
