Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the theory of hyperspace, with participants seeking information and resources related to the topic. The scope includes suggestions for literature, philosophical reflections on perception of dimensions, and societal acceptance of scientific ideas.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Conceptual clarification
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests links to comprehensive resources on the theory of hyperspace for a physics paper.
  • Another participant suggests a book titled "Hyperspace" as a useful resource available in libraries.
  • A different participant mentions another book, "Hyperspace and Ritalin, Calming Space Down," noting the author's confusion but still recommending it for reading.
  • Several links to online resources and academic papers related to hyperspace are provided by a participant, including a reference to a paper discussing geodesics in extra dimensions.
  • One participant poses a philosophical question about belief in astronomical facts versus skepticism towards abstract concepts like hyperspace, suggesting that human perception is limited by three-dimensional thinking.
  • Another participant comments on historical resistance to new scientific ideas, comparing it to the delayed acceptance of heliocentrism, implying that similar resistance may occur with the concept of hyperspace.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express a mix of curiosity and skepticism regarding the concept of hyperspace, with no clear consensus on its acceptance or understanding. Some engage in philosophical debate while others focus on resource sharing.

Contextual Notes

The discussion includes varying levels of familiarity with the topic, and some statements reflect personal opinions rather than established scientific consensus. The philosophical reflections introduce subjective interpretations that may not align with scientific views.

Who May Find This Useful

Readers interested in the theory of hyperspace, those seeking literature on advanced physics concepts, and individuals curious about the societal implications of scientific acceptance may find this discussion relevant.

there's a book called "Hyperspace" that's relatively commmon in libraries, you should check it out!

There's also another book on hyperspace called "Hyperspace and Ritalin, Calming Space Down". I think the author was confused but it's good reading nevertheless.

Why is it that when a person tells you there's over a billion stars in the universe you believe them, but if someone tells you there's wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it?

Basically, that's actually a decent question. Part of the problem is our own 3 dimensional locked sences and thought patterns tends to keep most from wanting to accept the idea of an outside hyperspace of multiple dimensions. If one says there is a billion stars in the sky most may not even try to count them. But they can look up and see in some regions a decent amount of stars and at least make the assumption the number sounds close to reality. When you start to mention other dimensions we simply do not have the ability to look out and say, well I see this and that sounds about right.

If anything its interesting that some people who have problems with there being a hyperspace will also speak of God or Creator who by definition would exist outside of all we can see. Now where is the logic in that one?

It took 'em long enough to admit the Earth goes around the Sun, rather than the other way around. What! You want 'em to absorb hyperspace in only one generation? Maybe if they keep their heads down and don't look, it'll go away! :=)

Now that is 100% the truth.
