What is Cube: Definition and 609 Discussions

In geometry, a cube is a three-dimensional solid object bounded by six square faces, facets or sides, with three meeting at each vertex.
The cube is the only regular hexahedron and is one of the five Platonic solids. It has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.
The cube is also a square parallelepiped, an equilateral cuboid and a right rhombohedron. It is a regular square prism in three orientations, and a trigonal trapezohedron in four orientations.
The cube is dual to the octahedron. It has cubical or octahedral symmetry.
The cube is the only convex polyhedron whose faces are all squares.

If the Earth was a giant metal cube..

A 43-year-old colleague of mine asked a childlike, yet intriguing question today. Perhaps someone could help answer it: If (somehow) a giant metal cube the size of the Earth appeared out of nowhere, what would happen? Would it: a) stay basically that way b) immediately get crushed under...

Science Fair Project: Ice Cube Properties & Flicking Distance

for my science fair project, i need to know the properties of an ice cube (physical and chemical). I am trying to see if the madd/weight of an ice cube effects its "flicking" distance. don't ask. :) please help!

    Fitting objects into a cube

Hello, I'm writing some code that will check if an array of products with given dimensions (length, width, height) can fit inside of a shipping box of given dimensions (length, width, height). Is there an algorithm to do this, or could someone point me in the right direction of where to go...

Gauss's Law and a uniformly charged cube

I can't seem to figure out how to apply Gauss's law to a uniformly charged cube(side length a), charge density = rho = Q/a^3. Here's the problem: I have a uniformly charge cube, of side length 'a,' with total charge Q which has a conductor on two oppossing faces. I want to know the electric...

In 1998 Hubble volume meant a cube 12 billion LY on a side

In 1998 "Hubble volume" meant a cube 12 billion LY on a side Majin asked what is Hubble volume. I did a google search and found that in 1998 there was a computer simulation study at one of the Max Planck institutes which simulated a cube 12 billion LY on a side (comoving distance) other...
