What is Observed: Definition and 195 Discussions

Observation is the active acquisition of information from a primary source. In living beings, observation employs the senses. In science, observation can also involve the perception and recording of data via the use of scientific instruments. The term may also refer to any data collected during the scientific activity. Observations can be qualitative, that is, only the absence or presence of a property is noted, or quantitative if a numerical value is attached to the observed phenomenon by counting or measuring.

    Butterfly Effect ever observed?

How much influence does the Butterfly Effect have in our proximity? Even the Sun's planetary orbits, over billions of years, having experienced myriad nonlinear small interactions (here the "butterflies"), have seemingly resulted in very few chaotic catastrophic outcomes (hence "effects").

    Copenhagen: Measured or Observed?

I don’t like CI. But I was always thinking that CI is an idealistic interpretation, based on the consciousness and the existence of intelligent observers. In Bohr’s time it was simple. He believed in a sharp line between quantum world and macroscopic world. Quantum event Q was registered by...
